Allow Holy Spirit To Glorify the Son of God

Updated: Mar 29, 2021

However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come. He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.

John 16:13,14

Mighty Holy Spirit leads us always in truth. Truth is the Word Of God! Truth is Jesus! The lead of the Holy Spirit is to always glorify the Son of God, the Living Word Of God that came into the world to show us the Heavenly Father.

The Holy Spirit proceeds from Father God to glorify His Son. Jesus tells us that the way the Holy Spirit glorifies Him is by taking of what is Jesus' and declaring it to us - living words are declared to us by the Spirit of God. This is the highest honour to the Divine Mind of God: that His Word be heard by us. We are made to hear the glory of the Son of God. Therefore we cannot say we cannot hear Him, because it is discrediting the work of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit glorifies Jesus by speaking the words of Jesus to us. As the Spirit speaks, we are to heed the voice of God.

When He speaks we are to listen to Him. As we listen, we allow the Holy Spirit to glorify Jesus by revealing the Word of God to us. The greatest opposition to hearing the voice of the Spirit is the strongholds in our carnal mind that we have allowed to exalt themselves above the knowledge of God. Due to a lack of exercise of the gift of self-control over our minds we have given these carnal strongholds freedom to grow, rather than destroying them. Once we subdue these carnal logical thoughts and arrogant pretenses, the voice of God becomes clear. His voice is an ever-proceeding voice, an ever-flowing flow and this is how the Holy Spirit speaks the words of Jesus to us.

In 2Corinthians 10:3-6, the Apostle Paul admonishes us to demolish these carnal strongholds of the mind. We are to cast down every vain imagination and arrogant thought, so when our obedience to hear Him is complete, we can punish all disobedience. The word ‘disobedience’ that Paul uses in 2Corinthians 10:6 means “incomplete hearing.” Incomplete hearing is disobedience! Thus it is not a matter of Him not speaking, it is a matter of us having incomplete hearing. How do we complete our hearing? It is by abiding in the Word of God which alone can tune our hearts to hear Him.

The Hearing of faith is most important to receiving all that Jesus has for us. In John 16:14,15, Jesus says of the Holy Spirit: "He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you." In these words of Jesus we see how the Holy Spirit gives us what is of Jesus - it is through word declarations that we are to hear!

The way Holy Spirit glorifies Jesus and presents us with all that is ours in Christ is by speaking to us. Clear hearing is very important in allowing the Spirit to perform His mandate on Earth and express God's desire for us - to walk in the fulness of our inheritance in Christ. Without hearing the voice of God we cannot fully enjoy the benefits of our salvation because everything is given to us by the Spirit disclosing it to us.

The manner by which the Holy Spirit's work is done is through His communication to us - Him speaking and us hearing by faith. This is why we are instructed by God: “Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts..." (Heb. 3:15). The believer's possession and participation in all that Christ died to give us is directly related to us hearing His voice.

Today hear Him and allow the Holy Spirit freedom to glorify the Son of God and to lead you in the fulness of your inheritance in Christ.
