Everlasting Trust

Updated: Nov 6, 2020

Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,

And Your dominion endures throughout all generations.

Psalm 145:13

“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life." ~ Jesus

John 5:24

Everlasting trust is part of everlasting life. When we became born again, the faith of the Son of God took residence in us (Galatians 2:20). God through this divine faith has equipped us to live life in full reliance and trust to our Heavenly Father. In the same manner that Jesus, the Son of God, lived life on Earth fully submitted and yielded to God, we too now have been divinely equipped through faith to live life in everlasting trust toward our Heavenly Father God.

Everlasting trust is what faith looks like - it has enabled us to walk out God's divine purpose for our life because we believe His love and faithfulness toward us. Faith has given us access into the divine grace that is in Jesus (Romans 5:2). We now, by faith, trust the finished work of salvation that Jesus did for us, by which we have been given a right standing with God. This is our hope and confidence, in which we greatly rejoice.

The Greek word for trust is elpis which is expectation, hope and confidence. The Strong's Greek concordance word-study defines this word as an expectation of that which is certain and assured. This is the very word that the Holy Spirit chose to use to define faith in Hebrews 11:1 - "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Faith is the substance of hope, of whom we trust, of whom we have confidence in. Our hope and trust is in the everlasting God - "... the King eternal, immortal, invisible, to God who alone is wise ..." (1Timothy 1:17).

When our confidence is secure and fully entrusted in God, we live life with a Living Hope and an eternal destiny. This trust in God allows us to enjoy our days here on Earth as we are assured that our God who is eternal and mighty is for us and thus nothing can stand to prevail against us. The steadfast love of God keeps us and reminds us that we now have been fathered to a Living Hope (1 Peter 1:3), a hope that will not disappoint us nor harm us.

Our everlasting trust in God gives God glory because our trust in Him calls Him faithful and true. This is the pleasure that we bring to our Heavenly Father - to know and to believe His love displayed toward us in His Word. Today we are confident of what He has said and we live life with a living expectation of assurance and trust.

This is the beautiful life of faith that the just live - our everlasting trust in our Everlasting God!
