Love is The Cross of Jesus

Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.

John 15:13

There is no greater demonstration of the love of God than the cross of Jesus.

And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

John 3:16,17

While we were sinners Jesus demonstrated His love for us by dying on the cross for us.

...God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8

Jesus shepherds us by laying down His life for us.

I am the good shepherd; and I know My sheep, and am known by My own. As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.

John 10:14,15

Jesus humbled Himself before God by coming to Earth to die for us.

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

Philippians. 2:8

Through His death on the cross we have forgiveness of sin.

And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

Colossians 2:13,14

His cross is peace and reconciliation with God.

For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity.

Ephesians 2:14-16

Through His cross we have peace with God.

For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.

Colossians 1:19-20

His death reconciled us to God.

For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life.

Romans 5:10

The cross of Calvary is a demonstration of the love of God.

In this the love of God was manifested toward us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

1 John 4:9-11

We love Him because He first loved us.

1 John 4:19

We know what love is by Him dying on the cross for us.

By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

1 John 3:16

Now we love Him and demonstrate His love towards others.

This is love, that we walk according to His commandments. This is the commandment, that as you have heard from the beginning, you should walk in it.

2 John 6

His commandment to us is to demonstrate His love to others as we believe Him.

And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.

1 John 3:23
