The Love of God! Oh to comprehend the Love of God - this is the cry of the human heart - the cry for LOVE. In our new birth as Christians, eternity is given to us for the unveiling of the never ending Love of God. God demonstrated His marvelous love towards us by giving us His Son as a sacrifice to make us one with Himself, to be one in Love.
God is Love and Love is God. To know God! To know Love! In the heart of man is an ever present desire to know. There is no higher ground of knowledge than to know the Love of God, the very essence of who God is. Solomon in Ecclesiastes writes great words of wisdom and identifies that at the core of man is a pursuit of that which is beautiful and eternal - Love: "He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men, yet they cannot fathom the work that God has done from beginning to end." (Eccl. 3:11 BSB).
All God is and all God does is Love. Love is the full expression of God. His Love is the beautifier of man through the Lamb that was slain before the foundation of the world - Jesus - so that we be present with our Heavenly Father in purity, above reproach (Eph. 1:4). Love moved His Son to step from immortality into mortality, from the eternal Heavenly to the temporal Earthly. Love became a rescuer of mankind, reconciling humanity to God and bringing forth a deliverance from the power of darkness and wrath and transferring us into the kingdom of His beloved Son, the kingdom of Love.
The Holy Spirit was given to us to lead us deeper into the revelation of the divine living existence and expression of Love. In Romans 5:5, Paul writes that the Love of God was liberally bestowed in our hearts through God's gift of the Holy Spirit. As we believe His love in the work of Calvary we become born again and the Father's Spirit is given to us to lead us in the truth of His love. The truth of His Love is that we will never be un-fathered by God nor rejected by Him, but ONLY loved. That is why John writes "... But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." (John 1:12,13) and by this "... we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him." (1John 4:16).
The ever increasing revelation of knowing that we are loved by God and the settling of this revelation in our hearts produces a greater freedom for us to walk in His love. By believing His love and understanding the demonstration of His love towards us through the cross we enter into the rest that only faith in His love provides. Herewith is the ultimate expression of trust in God - to know we are loved by God.
May you grow and be strengthened in His great love for you today. Trust that Love has you and that He now lives in you and is leading you into His righteous paths, deeper into His Love.
